Mercedes-Benz Miami Fashion Week Swim 2013

Last month, I had the very exciting opportunity to head to Miami for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim! I was lead & designed make-up for two shows – Vitamin A by Amahlia Stevens and Xtra Life by Lycra – and what an experience it was!

I was working with my favourite hair stylist, the amazing Eugene Davis. He created some beautiful hair at the shows, as always.

Our first show was the Vitamin A by Amahlia Stevens show. We wanted the girls to look like bronzed goddesses, that had spent the whole summer on the beach. The collection was very feminine & sexy so we wanted to express that through the hair and makeup also. I wanted to make the skin really dewy and highlight the girls’ beautiful features. We were kindly sponsored by Temptu (www.temptu.com). They provided us with beautiful foundations and highlighters, that were perfect for the look we created. We created gorgeous bases and then used the highlighters on the cheekbones & brow bones.

We were also sponsored by the fantastic Tinte cosmetics (www.tintecosmetics.com), who provided us with beautiful shimmers & lipglosses. After we had finished the bases, we added their “Sun kissed” powder across the cheekbone (to set the highlighter) and then all over the eyelid, up to the brow. We then took the “Bronze Glow” and swept it across the lid to create greater definition.

We filled brows and then added false eyelashes. I choose natural looking lashes to just add length & fullness and topped with lashing of mascara. The we added bronzers to define cheekbones further and added to the temples. To complete the look, we took Tinte’s lip shine in “Cake”.

To ensure the girls looked like true bronzed goddesses, we covered their bodies in shimmers and highlighters.

There were five sections to the collection and for the fifth (gorgeous bright bikinis & kaftans) we added a splash of colour to the girls faces as a tribal influence and also to add an element of fun.

Eugene’s team gave the girls really long, wavy hair that looked like they’d spent the all day on the beach but still maintaining a glamorous look.

The second show was Xtra Life by Lycra. This show was split into three parts, showcasing different elements of Waterlilly, Desert and Snow. To express the three different elements, in addition to the clothing changes, we changed the hair & make-up slightly.

My rocking team! Great girls & great artists!

For the first look, we created a gorgeous base with the Temptu foundations. Then accentuating the cheekbones & brow bones with Temptu highlighters. After the bases, we swept the Tinte cosmetics “Nikki Pink” shimmer powder across the eyelid. On top of the eye shimmer, we added an eye gloss just to create a beautiful dewy look.

We created natural brows by adding a little definition. We used natural-looking false eyelashes and topped with mascara. We then took the “Rose Petals” and used it as a blush on the cheeks. To complete the look, we took Tinte’s lip shine in “Double Bubble”, a lovely light pink. Tropical leaves were added to the hair, which looked beautiful!

I had to think of a change we could create, where we would have time to apply and help express the changes in the looks so I decided to swap the lip colours with every look. After the girls had walked in the “Waterlilly” section, we removed their lip gloss and replaced it with Tinte cosmetics “Cake”, a golden toned gloss. Then for the final section, we replaced it again with a red toned “Mynt Kiss”.

I had an incredible time in Miami. The shows were fantastic and my team were superb! Big thank you to Tinte Cosmetics and Temptu for providing us with their fantastic products. I highly recommend you check their make-up out! For more images of the shows and highlighted video clips, please visit my “Shows” section on my site.
