I had an interesting shoot this week with identical twins – something that I’ve never done before, so it was really cool to do. Jodie & Jenna were the models and we shot it in Epping Forest, which was great fun (little cold mind!!) Stupidly, I forgot it was the middle of winter & only had on ballerina pumps, which aren’t exactly practical in a muddy forest! Luckily, our stylist, the fab Angharad Merrey, was prepared for every eventuality and lent me some boots to put on!
We wanted the twins to look similar but to have a slight difference. Almost a ying & yang idea but we didn’t want it to be too obvious, incase it became cheesy! So I applied the same look but just tweaked it slightly on each girl.
On both girls, I ensured they had a great base and then contoured cheekbones with MAC’s Studio Fix powder foundation. To highlight cheekbones, I applied MAC’s creme colour in “Pearl” on Jenna & “Luna” on Jodie.
On Jodie, she was the “dark / bad” twin, so after highlighting her cheekbones, I concentrated on her eyes, using MAC’s “Blanc Type” across the lid and defining the socket line with MAC’s “Coquette” eyeshadow. I then took MAC’s Fluidline in “Blacktrack”and created a winged liner. I defined Jodie’s brows with a natural powder and applied mascara. Then completing the look with one of my favourite lipsticks at the moment MAC’s “Hang Up”. Not to forget blush – I always apply blush last to balance the look.
With Jenna, she was the “light / good” twin so I created the same look with different colours. For the base of the eye, I used MAC’s “Dazzlelight” eyeshadow and defined the socket line with “Honesty” – a really nice gold / brown tone. As before with Jodie, I defined the brows, created a winged liner and applied mascara. On the lips, I used MAC’s “Lovelorn” – lovely pink tone. The cheeks were finished with MAC’s “Light Flush” Mineralise Skin Finish.
We had my favourite hair stylist on board, the fantastic Eugene Davies – who had to look after the girls manes! Their hair was so long – the lucky things!
Angharad brought along some gorgeous pieces for the girls to wear, which really worked well with the colours in the make-up.
Sarah Louise Johnson shot it & did a fantastic job as always! With it being Winter, we were under slight time pressure as the sun goes down really early but we all pulled together and got it done. I can’t wait to see the finished results 🙂
